Treatment Process
Preoperative Examination and Assessment: Patients need a comprehensive oral examination, including oral X-rays, CT scans, etc., to determine the quality, density, height, and width of the alveolar bone, and to assess their overall health and rule out contraindications for surgery.
Implant Placement Surgery: Under local anesthesia, the doctor prepares a suitable implant bed on the alveolar bone, inserts the implant, and then sutures the wound. Patients generally do not feel significant pain during the surgery, but there may be slight swelling and pain afterwards, which usually subsides within 3-7 days.
Healing Period: After the implant is placed, it takes 3-6 months for the implant to osseointegrate with the alveolar bone. During this period, patients need to follow the doctor's advice, pay attention to oral hygiene, avoid eating excessively hard foods, and return for follow-up visits as required to observe the healing of the implant.
Abutment and Crown Installation: Once the implant achieves good osseointegration with the alveolar bone, the gum needs to be opened again to install the abutment that connects the implant and the crown. This process is relatively simple, and the postoperative recovery is also faster. After the abutment is installed, a tooth model needs to be taken to fabricate a crown that matches the patient's oral condition and adjacent teeth, and then it is installed on the abutment, thus completing the dental implant restoration.
