Methods of Teeth Straightening
Traditional Metal Bracket Straightening
Principle: Stainless steel brackets are bonded to the surface of the teeth, and the interaction between the archwire and the brackets generates orthodontic force to move the teeth.
Features: Mature technology, strong corrective force, effectively corrects various types of dental malocclusion. The Price is relatively cheap, and it is one of the most widely used correction methods currently. However, it is less aesthetically pleasing, the brackets and archwires are easy to scratch the oral mucosa, and cleaning is more difficult.
Ceramic Bracket Straightening
Principle: Similar to metal brackets, except that ceramic materials are used for the brackets, the color is similar to that of teeth, and it is relatively aesthetically pleasing.
Features: It has a certain degree of aesthetics and is not easily noticeable. However, the strength of ceramic brackets is relatively low, and cracking is easy to occur, and the friction is large, which may prolong the correction time.
Invisible Straightening
Principle: The movement of teeth is simulated by computer to produce a series of transparent invisible aligners. Patients need to replace the aligners regularly, using the elastic force of the aligners to gradually move the teeth to achieve the purpose of correction.
Features: High aesthetics, almost no impact on daily life and social interaction. It can be removed and worn by oneself, making it easy to clean the mouth and eat. However, it requires higher patient compliance; if the aligners are not worn on time, it may affect the correction effect. Moreover, the Price is relatively high, and for some complex dental malocclusions, the correction effect may not be as good as traditional bracket correction.
Lingual Straightening
Principle: The brackets are bonded to the lingual side of the teeth, and the brackets and archwires are invisible from the outside, thus achieving the effect of invisible correction. The generation and transmission of orthodontic force are similar to traditional metal bracket correction, but because the brackets are located on the lingual side, the mechanical design and operation difficulty are relatively large.
Features: It has good aesthetics and is suitable for patients with extremely high aesthetic requirements. However, lingual correction has very high technical requirements for doctors; during treatment, patients may have a strong foreign body sensation, and speech and eating may be affected, and the Price is also relatively expensive.
